The twelve astrology signs range over the calendar year and are grouped together by the elements of water, earth, fire and air. There are three astrology signs in each element. The fish, the crab and the scorpion are the water signs represented by Pieces, Cancer and Scorpio respectively. The earth signs are the bull, the virgin and the goat represented by Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn in that order. The ram, the lion and the centaur represented by Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are the fire signs. The air groupings are the twins (Gemini), the scales (Libra) and the water carrier (Aquarius).

Astrology signs and science

Because it has no scientific basis the study of astrology signs has been deemed ridiculous or dismissed merely a hobby by some of the scientific authorities. 

But like psychic power, tarot cards and physic mediums astrology is an unknown quantity and scientists have a morbid fear of the unknown because it destabilizes their views of the world and the influences on it. It is better to have an open mind on such topics even if they cannot be explained.

Those who believe in astrology may carry a good luck charm related to the date and time of their birth. These charms are usually made from silver or gold and are quite small and can be earrings, cufflinks, bracelets or just keepsakes but they are inextricably linked to the day you were born and the sign you were under at the moment of your birth. Sometimes babies are given presents of small gold charms which represent their star signs.

The astrology signs in order

Like the twelve months of the year the astrology signs are broken out into twelve sections of approximately 30 days each. The main difference is that the astrology signs do not start on the 1st day of the calendar month but are governed by planetary positions and all of them begin between the 20th and 24th of their respective calendar month. The year begins with Aries (in March) and the final Zodiac sign is Pisces (in February).

How the 12 astrology signs are configured

The sun rotates around the earth every day and completes a full 360 degree circuit. The sun’s trajectory is divided into twelve equal segments of the Zodiac each of 30 degrees. Because the sun’s circumference of the earth is not exactly a perfect circle some 30 degree portions will be different than others.

Sagittarius: The Centaur Sagittarius, also known as The Archer is complex and independent. Very companionable and purposeful.

Capricorn: The Goat The Capricorn is also known as the Sea-goat and concerns love, passion and relationships and is not afraid of saying I love you. Assured and has a friendly nature.
